Journalism in Mozambique: interview with Celestino Joanguete

Celestino Joanguete is a Mozambican professor and researcher with a Bachelor ‘s Degree in Communication Sciences from Universidade Fernando Pessoa, in Portugal. He has a PhD in the same field, which was obtained from Universidade do Minho, also in Portugal. In addition, he has studied Theology and Philosophy at the theological institutes Seminário Maior Santo Agostinho and Seminário São Pio X, in Maputo. As a professor of journalism in his home country, his experience includes collaborations with the following universities: Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Universidade Católica de Moçambique, Universidade Zambeze and Universidade Pedagógica de Maputo.

Author of the book Mozambican Press: from paper to digital (Imprensa Moçambicana: do papel ao digital, in the original edition), which was first published in Portuguese in 2017, Joanguete conducts consultancies in media and journalism, with emphasis on technologies and professional training. As a consultant, teacher or lecturer, he has visited countries such as Portugal, Brazil, South Africa, Namibia, Ethiopia and the United States.
