Saulo Menezes de Oliveira Priez is a Brazilian journalist who has been living in the United Kingdom since 2002. He concluded his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communication: Journalism in 2000, at Universidade Federal de Sergipe, in Aracaju. In addition to his interest in journalism, Priez also directs special attention to social media and marketing in his daily life in the UK. In 2004, he completed a Master’s Degree in Multimedia at the University of Gloucestershire, in Cheltenham, and, in 2010, he received a Professional Certificate in Marketing at Bournville College, Birmingham.

Priez works as Social Media Manager at Highways England, in Birmingham, where currently he lives. His work in this transport industry company includes leading strategic social media transformations, conducting operational communications and customer services via social platforms, and managing the production of corporate social media content. In this context, Priez has a peculiar view about the intersections between journalism, social media and marketing. Below is an interview with Priez about these themes in the UK. The views expressed are his own.

Enio Moraes Júnior — Social media is an important topic in your career. Do you think this type of media changed journalism in the UK? What is the power of that?
