Pedro Russi Duarte is a Uruguayan journalism researcher and professor. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education Sciences Bachelor from the Catholic University of Uruguay. He has also a Postdoctoral’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Navarra, Spain, a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Communication from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos), Brazil. Currently he is a professor at the Cenur-LN (Centro Universitario Regional Litoral Norte) in the University of the Republic (UdelaR), in Uruguay.

Born in Paysandu, where he lives and works, Russi is a member of the National System of Researchers and the directive commission of the Association of Researchers of Uruguay. In addition, he collaborates with the Communication Postgraduate Programme at the University of Brasilia (UnB) and is a member of the board of directors of the International Centre for Semiotics and Communication (Ciseco).

Author of books such as Meios de Comunicação na Migração: uruguaios no sul do Brasil (2010), Líderes de Opinião no Ambiente Midiático (with Lauro Maranhão Aires Neto, 2010) e Entrevozes Urbanas (with Renata Almendra, 2020) and organizator of books such as Processos Semióticos em Comunicação (2013), he articulates in his research on Journalism, Discourse and Communication, areas such as Semiotics, Epistemology and…
